Eight-year-old Chris Alvarez, born with a severe limb deficiency, traveled from Colombia to Baltimore, MD, for a life-changing surgery at Sinai Hospital. Dr. Shawn Standard performed the eight-hour procedure pro bono, rotating Chris’ leg 180 degrees to create a functional limb with a prosthesis. During their stay, Chris and his mother, Lilly, were welcomed at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland, allowing them to remain close to the hospital. Now, Chris is on a path to a brighter future, and we wish him the best.
